The pearl-encrusted Calvin Klein Collection dress worn by Lupita Nyong'o at this year's Academy Awards , valued at $150,000, has been stolen.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesperson Nicole Nishida confirmed the theft of Nyongo's gown, telling USA TODAY that a representative for the actress reported the dress missing on Wednesday evening.
"The dress was taken from her room at The London hotel sometime during the day on Feb. 25. Ms. Nyong'o was not in the room at the time of the theft," said Nishida.
The valuable gown was encrusted with 6,000 white Akoya pearls. On the red carpet, Nyong'o said she was keeping an eye on the delicate pearls adorning her dress. "We'll see how many I keep on by the end of the night," she told USA TODAY. And she was enjoying her first Oscars since her victory last year for Twelve Years a Slave. "I'm really happy to be here and the pressure is off," she said.
Representatives for Nyong'o had no comment.
"Detectives are now doing follow-up and working with hotel security," said Nishida.
