Highlighting the British policy of 'Divide and Rule' which invited Turkey's involvement in the politics of the island during the Cypriot struggle for independence during the 1950's, and the influence of US policies in leading to a forced division of the island following the Turkish invasion of 1974 when it took over nearly 40% of the island, which it continues to hold onto 38 years later.
