Together we will overcome: Kenya Promise to support Nigeria in the fight against Terrorism

Kenya is at the forefront in the global war on terrorism and will stand firmly in solidarity with Nigeria in fighting the scourge. The fluid nature of terror networks requires that we work together, to ensure that there is no hiding place for those who plot to kill and maim innocent men, women and children. Kenya and Nigeria play a leading role in peaceful resolution of conflicts and preventive diplomacy in the continent and we will also scale up tour cooperation in addressing our respective security challenges. Our common goal and aspiration for Africa as a continent at peace with itself and the world is the focal point that enables us to coordinate our efforts in order to attain greater prosperity, peace and security in our regions and the continent.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and President Goodluck Jonathan
We signed three agreements and four Memoranda of Understanding that are aimed at promoting trade between our two countries. The agreements were on Trade Cooperation and Agricultural Cooperation which lay the foundation for business people from Kenya and Nigeria to interact and promote business and make provisions for the two countries to work together in boosting their agriculture respectively. The third agreement was on immigration matters and seeks to ease the movement of people between Kenya and Nigeria.
We signed MoUs on cooperation in police service, five year multiple visa for prominent business persons, cooperation in control of the possession and trafficking in narcotics drugs and psychotropic substances, and one MoU between Nigerian Association of Chamber of Commerce Industry, Mines
and Agriculture and the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
I am pleased to note that Kenya and Nigeria are now engaged more closely than ever in strategic discussions to tighten the ties that already bind us.
