Namibia: Tsumeb geared for festival

The organizers of the upcoming 11th annual Tsumeb Copper Festival aim to make it the event of the year with only the best performers lined up to spice up the festivities.



The festival that will kick-off on 30 October and end on 2 November runs under the theme “Copper, the Reward of Tsumeb”.

This is a premier marketing event for local and international exhibitors. 

The main focus is to encourage small businesses to market their goods and services and to see which goods and services from outside the town can benefit the people. The festival is also meant to celebrate the existence of Tsumeb as a town.

The festival has been revamped in such a manner that it has attracted socio-economic development for the town,” said the Chairperson of the Tsumeb Copper Festival, Julius Gaeseb.

He said the hospitality industry was benefiting enormously from the festival which brings temporary employment for the youth and gives business people get a chance to meet and network. 

“Tsumeb is a town of choice in all aspects of development I urge people to come and join in the celebrations.We have put in a lot of effort to make this event a glowing success. 

“There will be ample security for visitors as well as a conducive environment for conducting business,” said Gaeseb.The highlight of the event will be the keynote address by Prime Minister Hage Geingob. 

Also lined up is the Miss Copper beauty pageant as well as star performances by top musicians Mushe and Fishman. 

There will also be a sporting bonanza that will see the likes of Mohammed Ouseb and Gerros Witbeen dubbed the “old crocks” perform.
